VéloRouge is a bike rental company based in Strasbourg, France — a city practically built for cycling, where the bicycle is treated as a way of life rather than just a mode of transport. When the founders came to us, they weren’t just asking for a brand. They wanted us to bottle a feeling: freedom, movement, and the particular joy of exploring a city entirely at your own pace.
The Guiding Idea: “Strasbourg à votre rythme”
Everything we designed grew out of one phrase — “Strasbourg at your own rhythm.” That idea shaped every decision we made, from the tone of the copy to the pacing of the website itself.
Why the Whole Identity Runs on Red
The name VéloRouge literally translates to “Red Bike,” so red wasn’t a trend we chose — it was a non-negotiable starting point. It needed to feel energetic, visible from across a street, and impossible to miss.
Designing for Two Languages, One Feeling
Strasbourg sits right at the crossroads of French and German culture, and draws visitors from across Europe. The website had to work fluently in multiple languages without ever feeling bureaucratic or cluttered — clarity needed to survive translation intact.
The Brand Beyond the Screen
The identity extended physically too, from the shopfront to the bikes themselves. For a business like this, the environment and the product aren’t separate from the marketing — they are the brand experience.
VéloRouge is a good reminder that the strongest branding work doesn’t just describe a business. It captures a feeling and makes it tangible at every point a customer touches it.
